Winter
In winter life can be hard for animals – days are short and for many creatures finding enough food to survive takes up almost every hour of daylight. But there is still plenty of wildlife to spot.

Traditionally a coastal species, Lesser sea-spurrey has spread inland, taking advantage of the winter-salting of our roads. Its pink-and-white flowers bloom in summer.

The common mussel is a familiar sight on shores all around the UK and is a favourite food of people, seabirds and starfish alike.
Ragworm
The ragworm is highly common on our shores, though rarely seen except by the fishermen that dig them up for bait.
