What are nature stars?

About: A small, elongated, large-headed, large-eyed fish found in rock pools and shallow rocky seas. Grows up to 15cm long. Variable in colour, with darker blotches.

How to identify: Told from similar species of blenny by lacking the tentacles on the head, which the others have.

Where: Found all round our coasts.

Fantastic fact: Shanny can often be found around the legs of piers.
