british birdfair 2017

I had a great day with a friend last friday at the british birdwatching fair at Rutland water in leicestershire . there were 8 marquees to explore and in one i met Nick Baker and had a chat with him . my friend and i went to hear simon king in the events marquee and during his talk we had a thunderstorm! i hate thunderstorms so glad we were inside! later i met simon in his marqee and had a chat with him . in one marquee the wildlife trust had a lot on interesting stuff and i picked up some brilliant booklets to help me with my wildlife watching ----one was called my wild summer, another was my wildlife garden and the other was about bees --all activity books. i also got some random act of wildness cards.with activities on . i had a great day and actually simon king is a friend of mine !

white cygnets

Recently my friend and i went to RSPB Sandwell Valley and saw over 30 species of birds, lots of dragonflies and chasers and a family of swans ---including 3 grey cygnets and 2 white cygnets . i have n.ever seen white ones before and discovered that they were called leucistic. last year at Gigrin Red Kite feeding centre we saw a leucistic bird and it certainly stood out from the general brown , white and reddish colours of the normal kites.
another friend and i went to Nant -yr Arian feeding centre about 3 weeks ago and saw lots of kites being fed. they flew overhead and were a lovely sight.

hi , this is what i have seen in our garden over the last few days; 4 magpies,3 woodpigeon,4 blackbirds,1 crow, heard longtailed tits , 1 bee , 2 squirrels. the wild flower lady`s smock is growing in the flats front garden with buttercups and creeping cinquefoil.
