What are nature stars?

About: Timothy can be found in meadows, waste grounds, arable fields and roadside verges. It is often cultivated as a fodder plant for livestock.

How to identify: Long, dense flower spikes which are cylindrical in shape and sit on top of a tall, slender stem. Flower spikes appear from June to August. The leaves are grey-green and flat.

Where: Widespread

Fantastic fact: Timothy grass got it's name from a farmer called Timothy Hanson who first began cultivating it as a hay crop in the 18th Century in the USA.
