100 Family Adventures Competition

In our Summer 2015 issue we included a fantastic article by the Meek family on their brilliant 'green-time' adventures, which they turned into a book - 100 Family Adventures.

To celebrate this we held a competition to give away five copies of this book. We simply asked you to send us photographs of you and your family swapping screen-time for green-time! We had some brilliant entries - after all, summer is a brilliant time for exploring the great outdoors.

Congratulations to the winners below! As we had so many entries we also have some highly commended entries. Congratulations to everybody who entered and we hope that you loved your green-time!

Here's a picture of Eilidh & Andrew with their brand new book. We're so glad you like it!

Congratulations to our five lucky winners:

Eilidh & Andrew Milne, aged 8 & 5 told us this: "Instead of watching TV we have been out and about in the Angus Glens. This is us at one of our favourite spots, Corrie Fee. It was quite a windy day!"

Elsie & Morris Hunt, aged 9 & 5. This pair had lots of fun dam building at the beach and even saw a pod of dolphins! How lucky!! There are so many wonders to be seen in and around the UK.

Charlie, Ben & Jack Allen, aged 6, 4 & 10 months. These siblings sound like they have had a wonderful summer! Charlie said: "I replaced screen-time with green-time by bug hunting at Bystock reserve fun day near Exmouth.

Ben (pictured) told us that he had been pond dipping - he had a great time and found some pond skaters! Even Jack loves joining in, by riding in his rucksack! He said: "I enjoy getting out and about, smiling and bopping Daddy on the head."

Evie & Joey MacDonald, aged 10 & 9. Wow! This pair have certainly had an active summer!

They said: "We replaced screen time by climbing trees, swimming in the lake at Castlewellan forest park, feeding ducks and completing the maze! We also found some moon jellyfish on the beach at Tyrella. Great fun."

Georgia, Madison, Fintan and Jasper Eadie
have been telling us all about their wild summer! Their parents took them camping and even though it rained the whole time, they played in muddy puddles, paddled and toasted marshmallows on the fire. They said that winning the book will give them lots more ideas for family adventures!

Highly commended:

Heather Limer, who goes on weekend adventures with her Mum and Dad and basically spends most her time 'being wild'!

Monty, Layla and Sofia Bowman, who have been taking part in the barefoot nature trail and climbing trees!

Callum Norton who took a trip to Filey in the rain

Samil Patel, for whom family fun in nature comes whether rain or shine

Toby Keen, who recognised a beautiful garden tiger moth caterpillar thanks to our Weird Nature page!

Nathan and Keira Joseph who showed us their garden patch where they will be growing lots of lovely things!
