About Us

As a small, local charity we rely on the support of our members. Membership enables us to manage our nature reserves, run conservation projects, deliver environmental education activities and provide thousands of volunteering opportunities each year.

We run lots of events, from holiday activities to walks and talks! See all upcoming events on our website.

Young Rangers

We also run a Young Rangers group for 14 - 18 year olds on the 2nd Saturday of every month! Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

At Rainton Meadows and Low Barns we offer an exciting programme of safe, hands on activities designed to bring learning to life. The activities are designed to have strong links with core areas of the National Curriculum and sessions, adapted to your individual needs, are available for all Key Stages covering: habitats, invertebrates, adaptation, food chains, plants, sensory nature exploration and citizenship. Learn more here.

We run lots of different education projects with local children, for example the Derwent Valley Wildside Project which is capturing footage of wild animals on school grounds. To see some of the footage visit our youtube page.
