About: A very spiny shrub, native to sand dunes where it forms dense thickets.

How to identify: Identified by its long, narrow, greyish leaves and orange berries.

Where: Along the east coast, also widely planted along roadsides and around the coast.

Fantastic fact: The berries of Sea Buckthorn are a favourite food of winter thrushes as they arrive from the continent in the autumn.
