What are nature stars?

About: A small tree of woodland edge, hedgerows and grassland scrub. Frequently planted along roadsides or in gardens and parks.

How to identify: Recognisable by the broad, palmate leaves, an 'umbel' of large white flowers turning into red berries in the autumn.

Where: Widespread.

Fantastic fact: Guelder Rose berries are a favourite food of Waxwings in the winter.
