What are nature stars?

About: A deciduous conifer, up to 45m tall with small cones on brittle twigs.

How to identify: Recognised by the clusters of short needles and the small upright cones on twiggy branches, as well as the thick layer of shed needles beneath the trees.

Where: Widespread

Fantastic fact: European Larch are native to the mountains of central Europe and were introduced to the UK in the early 17th century.
