What are nature stars?

About: A popular garden plant, introduced from China in the 1890s and now widely naturalised on waste ground, along railway lines and in towns.

How to identify: A very familiar bush, with large inflorescences of small purple (sometimes white) flowers.

Where: Widespread.

Fantastic fact: Buddleia is also known as the Butterfly Bush, because it is such a popular nectar source in gardens.
