About: A very common plant that can be found growing in gardens, hedgerows, fields, woods and many other places. Almost everyone has been stung once by a stinging nettle! Stinging nettles are also great wildlife attractors - butterflies lay their eggs on them, ladybirds and caterpillars love them and many insects use nettles for food and shelter.

How to identify: Ouch! There is one painful way to identify a common nettle. Also look for the hairs on its its stem, its drooping flowers and familiar leaves.
