Can't see the wood for the trees! November 2012

Back to the park today to look at trees, their leaves, fruit and bark. We measured the girth of the trees and tried to guess their height and age.

We went on a scavenger hunt and collected natural materials from the ground and our Wildlife Watchers used clay and the items they had collected to make faces on the trees. Some great results.

This photo was also published in our local newspaper - The Chad.

Mini Beast Safari - October 2012

Our first Mansfield & Ashfield Wildlife Watch Group and we launched with a mini beast safari in Titchfield Park, Mansfield.

We observed spiders, butterflies and bugs at close quarters and also looked at worms in the wormery. The children made mini beast hotels using straw, pine cones, bamboo canes and small pieces of wood.

It was a great start - youngsters on safari!
