We meet at St Mark's Church Hall, Nottingham Road, Mansfield on the first Saturday of each month, 10.30 - 12.30am. Come and join in the fun! As this group is now quite full, to book your first session please contact: Sarah Spurry, Watch Leader, or phone 07885169111

Group news and diary

Trip to NWT's Idle Valley Nature Reserve - July 2015

As soon as the children got off the bus, they were immediately fascinated at finding hundreds of little frogs on the verge of the car park! A great start to another fun filled day with our very keen Wildlife Watchers - after a saunter through the willow arches, happy minutes were spent building dens in the woods, followed by discovery time in the children's play area. Time for a picnic in the shade, storytelling under the trees and a walk by the water to look at the birds, the wildflowers and the dragonflies. There was just enough time to have an ice cream at the café before heading for home again!

30 Days Wild - June 2015

Our Wildlife Watchers are doing something wild every day in June.

They're making nature part of their lives and have taken up the challenge to record a Wildlife Watch Wild Diary for the whole month of June.

Make room for nature - go wild every day!

Cuckoos and GPS - May 2015

Brilliant time in May with Andy Lowe, West Notts Conservation Officer for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

The children learnt all about the cuckoos, their behaviour and their travels and asked Andy loads of questions. Out on the LNR, the Wildlife Watchers had the chance to use the tracking technology.

Another Dip at the Pond - June 2015

Lots of young dippers at the pond!

We found several sticklebacks and Lucia found a huge dragonfly larvae.

Some of our youngsters also tested the quality of the water using our Waterside Care, Keep Britain Tidy Water Quality Testing kit.

A lovely sunny morning and as always, a great nature trail walk on the Quarry Lane Local Nature Reserve.

Dan and his grass head!

Dan with his grass head creation which he made when we "went to pot" in April 2015!
