About: A tall conifer, up to 50 metres. Originally from Scandinavia.
How to identify: Spruce trees differ from firs in having downwards hanging cones, and have shorter needles than pine trees. The Norway Spruce has longer cones than Sitka Spruce, up to 20 cm long.
Where: Widespread, planted in forestry particularly in the lowlands.
