What are nature stars?

About: A small tree, widespread in woodland edges and hedgerows and also frequently planted in parks and gardens.

How to identify: Most easily recognised by the reddish tiwgs, with an 'umbel' of white flowers in the spring which become blackish berries. Leaves are oval, without teeth along the edges.

Where: England and Wales

Fantastic fact: Dogwood branches were used to make arrows.
