What are nature stars?

About: This plant thrives in grasslands and it able to withstand poor quality soils. Flowers between May and September.

How to identify: Look for heavy, dark veins on serrated leaves which sprout opposite each other up the stalk. The yellow flowers are tube-like and protrude from their leafy, protective bud.

Where: Very common, grows all over the UK and Ireland.

Fantastic fact: This plant has parasitic tendencies - it is able to 'borrow' nutrients from the roots of other nearby plants!
