What are nature stars?

About: Often found in hedge banks, grassland, hillsides and even dunes and cliffs. Flowers between July and September.

How to identify: Look for long, trailing stems with small club shaped leaves at the base. Leaves become elongated towards the tips, where nodding blue flowers hang in bell shapes.

Where: Very common in UK mainland, some in N. Ireland and Ireland, especially on the west coast

Fantastic fact: It is sometimes known as the bluebell in Scotland.
