More about Sussex Wildlife Trust

Sussex Wildlife Trust has a thriving department working with children and young people. We teach around 20,000 children a year through:

  • Visits to our main centres at Woods Mill (Henfield), Seven Sisters(Eastbourne) Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, and Tilgate Park (Crawley) where we have a huge range of different programmes to inspire children and support the curriculum, for all ages from Nursery to Tertiary
  • Our Forest School programme, giving regular contact with the natural environment for all ages
  • Our Outreach programme, taking environmental education into schools using their own grounds and local green spaces
  • Developing school grounds, working with pupils and teachers to make their grounds better for wildlife and learning
  • A Youth Ranger project, giving young people  the chance to volunteer in the natural environment
  • Visits by uniformed and other groups and birthday parties
  • A huge range of events throughout the County, from bushcraft to Teddy Bears Picnic to seashore scavenging
