Filling in our spotting sheets

I've just spotted another Long Tailed Tit. We recorded our findings as part of the National Big Garden Birdwatch survey. I wonder how many other people spotted Lapwings and Sparrow Hawks?

Feeding our feathered friends

We made bird feeders to take home and extra ones to hang up around Park View.

Everyone wanted to get messy making pinecone bird feeders with lard and bird seed.

Feathered Friends Flock to Park View

This Saturday January 28th Lytham Wildlife Watch group took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch. We were delighted to spot so many birds in 1 hour

including 2 Blackbirds, 5 Blue Tits, 3 Carrion Crows, 1 Chaffinch, 2 Feral Pigeons, 3 Wood Pigeons, 1 Great Tit, 2 Long Tailed Tits, 4 Magpies, 1 Robin, 1 Herring Gull, 4 Moor Hens, 2 Mallards, 1 Fieldfare, 1 Sparrow Hawk, a flock of geese and over 30 Lapwing also flew overhead.

Everyone who attended also got the chance to make their own pinecone bird feeder to take home and some to hang in the trees around Wishing Well Wood.
Our feathered friends were already tucking into their tasty treats before the session ended.

We look forward to our next session on February 25th which will involve creating our own nestboxes as part of National Nest Box Week. Come and join us from 10 am - 12 pm.
