Each session runs from 10.00 am - 12.30 pm

Tracks and Bones
Become a wildlife super sleuth for the day as we look at how to follow foot-prints, identify bones and work out ‘who done it’
February 11th
Practical Conservation task
Bring warm clothing, sturdy footwear and a mug for a hot drink, as we have a practical conservation task lined up!
March 10th
Wildlife Gardening
Help get the Whisby Wildlife Garden ready for the year ahead, with lots of tips and advice on how you can better your garden for wildlife too.
April 14th
Pond dipping discovery
Explore the very bottom of Thorpe lake as we search for creatures which live in there. What can you find?
May 12th
Dawn Chorus 6am—8.30am
Join us on an early morning walk around the Nature Park as we listen for the sounds of dawn. Followed by toast and jam for breakfast.
June 9th
A Walk in the Woods 10am—3pm
If you go down to the woods today you’re in for a big surprise… Bring a picnic with you as we explore nearby Tunman Wood.
July 14th
Who lives in a hole like this
Look a little deeper into the lives of summer visitors Sand Martins and our favourite furry insects, Bumblebees.
August 11th
The Whisby Olympic Games
Discover some amazing facts about British wildlife today as we uncover just how our wildlife would fare in a Wildlife Olympics.

Bat and Moth Evening 6.30pm-9pm
Venture out into the darkness to use moth traps and bat detectors as we see what wonderful nocturnal creatures the night time holds.
October 13th
Weird and Wonderful Webs
How does a spider spin a web? What does it use its web for? Autumn brings out a lot of our eight legged friends, join us as we learn about them.
November 10th
Hibernation
Lots of creatures vanish over winter, but where do they go and what are they doing?

Christmas Party
Dig out your dancing trousers, prepare your wildlife party food and come prepared for quizzes, games and lots more!!

February 12th Who floats, dives, swims in the Gravel Pits Take a closer look at the birds that visit Thorpe Lake and see if the amphibians are spawning.
March 12th Encourage birds and animals into your garden Help Sheri build and set a new Wildlife Garden area in the Education Centre grounds.
April 9th Is it only Wood Elves that live in a wood? Look for new life in the Oak wood as the tree leaves begin to unfurl.
May 14th Help a National Survey Take part in a National OPAL hedgerow survey by recording all the plants, minibeasts and larger animals that we find in our hedge.
June 11th Be an Osprey for a day Coach outing to Rutland Water. There will be an additional cost for this day. Booking is essential. Details later.
July 9th Who can you find living in a dry, stony place? A search for plants, lichens and minibeasts that can thrive in the Heathland.
August 13th How can you tell which bird is which? Join RSPB expert, Donna, for your chance to see wild birds in the hand as she shows us how she monitors birds by ringing them. Also have a close look at the creatures living in the lake.
September 10th Treasure hunt among the grasses Follow the footprints to find who lives in our Grassland.
October 8th 10.00-2.30pm This is the Big Watch Day when we will join with other Lincolnshire Watch groups for a fun filled day of activities.
November 12th Cooking for Birds! Design and build bird feeders to encourage our feathered friends to feed in our gardens.
December 10th Wildlife Mayhem Food and games at our end of year party with games, quizzes and our usual wildlife party food.

As we had to cancel the December meeting and so have not completed our Year Book which has to be submitted by January 12th we have arranged an additional meeting in January. Weather permitting!
Saturday January 8th ( this will be the same day as the Junion Warden meet) Education Centre 10.00-12.30 A New Year's party. Same plans as the Christmas one. Basically inside with games, quiz ,Year book and wildlife food (for humans to eat). We will provide drinks.
Saturday January 15th Education Centre. 10-12.30 Conservation tasks. We plan to go outside and complete some outdoor work. Please wear warm working clothesand footwear that you do not mind getting dirty. We will get the hot chocolate going.

Here we are making a "tree CD"

Alison helped us "Read trees". We had a go at "being a squirrel", hiding acorns and then "walking along branches (all done by mirrors!), doing bark rubbings and planting acorns.
