Meeting dates for the rest of 2015!

Sunday 9 August:
Picnic and all things salty
Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve
12.00 - 4.00pm

We will be going to the sea-side and having a wander around, to see the sea, and to look around this wonderful National Nature Reserve. Meet in the main car park. Bring a picnic. Car parking fee - £3.

Sunday 13 September:
The art of nature
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve
2.00 - 4.00pm

We will be collecting leaves, berries and anything else we find to make our own wildlife artwork creations.

Meet in the main car park.

Sunday 11 October:
Hidden gems and surprises
Toft Tunnel Nature Reserve
2.00 - 4.00pm

We will be discovering what wonders we can find at this strange nature reserve - will we find any fossils?

Meet by the roadside car park on the A6121, approx 1km south from the A151/A6121 junction.

Sunday 8 November:
Den building
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve
2.00 - 3.30pm

We will be trying to make a den.

DO NOT meet in the main car park. We will be over by the boathouse, so meet in Manor Roofing’s car park, just south of the automatic barrier level crossing on the B1166.

We will be taking a close up look at what our local owls have been eating by dissecting barn owl pellets.

Meet by the farm buildings.

We will be going on a winter walk to see if we can find any animal tracks.

Meet by the farm buildings.

Practical Conservation task

Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve

2.00 - 3.30pm

We will be doing some work to improve the reserve for wildlife, and we will have a bonfire.

Meet in the main car park. Remember to wrap up warmly because it will still be cold! Tools and gloves will be provided.

Autumn/winter dates!

Sunday 14 September:
Leaves and things
Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve
2.00 - 3.30pm

We will be taking a close up look at trees and leaves, and trying to put names to some of them.
Meet by the farm buildings.

Sunday 12 October:
Mammal survey
Deeping Lakes Nature Reserve
2.00 - 3.30pm

Using special traps we will see if we can catch and take a close look at mice and voles before we release them. We will also see if we can find signs of other animals, like foxes, deer or otters!

Meet in Manor Roofing car park (just a little bit south of the manned level crossing).

Wintery things
Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve
2.00 - 3.30pm

We will be taking a close look at some of the trees in winter, and finding out if we can still identify them even without their leaves.

We can also collect some leaves and make pictures out of them.

Winter to Spring 2014 dates!

Sunday 9 February: 2.00 - 3.30pm Practical Conservation task and owl pellets! Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve.

We will be helping out with some of the winter work that needs to be done to
keep the reserve in tip-top condition.
We can also use one of the classrooms to find out what our barn owls have been eating recently by looking into some of their owl pellets.
Meet by the farm buildings at the northern end of the access track.

Sunday 9 March: 2.00 - 3.30pm Practical Conservation task
Dole Wood Nature Reserve.

With spring just around the corner we will be getting ready for the open day in April.
Wrap up warmly & wellies might be needed if it is wet & soggy!
Tools and gloves will be provided for the practical work sessions.

Sunday 13 April – ‘Signs of Spring’, Deeping Lakes, 2.00 – 3.30pm, meet in the main car park.

Sunday 11 May – ‘Making bug hotels’, Willow Tree Fen, 2.00 – 3.30pm, meet by the farm buildings.

Sunday 8 June – ‘Deeping Lakes open day’ – activities for children 10.30 – 16.00
