About: Fern grass is small and often overlooked. It has a ridgid stem and spikelets, often with a purpleish tinge.
How to identify: Fern grass can grow up to 20 cm tall and grows on dry grassland or rock.
Where:
Mostly associated with coastal sites in Wales and the west and north east of the England, this plant is actually distributed inland throughout Southern England as well.
