About: A small seabird, about 33cm long. Puffins are very familiar birds, black above with a white belly and a greyish white face. Famously, they have a massive, multicoloured bill. Puffins live in burrows in the short grass at the top of cliffs. They feed on fish, like sandeels, and they catch these by diving, then swimming using their wings!
How to identify: Unmistakeable.
Where: Nests on cliffs and islands at scattered locations around the coast of Scotland, northern England, south west England and Wales.
