Nosy fish – keeping watch. The eyes have it!

I'm keeping watch for predators and intruders. You can see from this video that I have unusual eyes and can look in different directions at the same time.

I've spotted something interesting. I'm off!

I’ve just been having a go at this month’s Wildlife Watch competition to name the butterfly. I like to spot butterflies when I’m out and about, then I look up what species they are in my butterfly id book.

I think I know the answer to this one, but I can’t tell you what it is......!

This week I’ve been spider watching. I’ve seen hundreds of them! Yesterday I saw a garden spider eating a fly and the day before that I saw a daddy long legs stuck in a web. It wriggled and wriggled but it couldn’t get out. It is amazing how spiders can spin such beautiful webs. I wonder what it would be like to be a spider and live in a web. I think I might like it.

I’ve been out along the hedgerow picking blackberries today, I ate lots and lots. Most of them tasted sweet and juicy but a few were really sour! I’ve got purple juice all over my white stripes now though so I suppose I’d better go and clean myself up. Have you picked any yet?

Have any of you seen a barn owl this summer? I was lucky enough to see one yesterday swooping silently over the hedge near my burrow. It gave me quite a fright to begin with because I thought it was a ghost! It appeared so suddenly and silently, and it was so big and white, but then I realised that it was an owl and I remembered that I don’t believe in ghosts so I didn’t need to be frightened.

I hope I see it again, it was amazing!

I took a trip to the beach last week. I'd heard it was National Marine Week so I thought I would have a go at rockpooling. It was amazing! There were all sorts of creatures that I'd never seen before. I saw anemones and limpets and a very small starfish. I even saw a crab hiding under a rock. I think I got a bit too close to him though because he gave me a pinch right on the end of my nose. It still hurts now. Next time I think I'll look for dolphins, they might be less snappy.
