Nosy fish – keeping watch. The eyes have it!

I'm keeping watch for predators and intruders. You can see from this video that I have unusual eyes and can look in different directions at the same time.

I've spotted something interesting. I'm off!

There was a strange light in a box near my burrow last night. I couldn't work out what it could be or why it was there. But then this morning I peered out of my burrow and saw some people arrive to look in the box.

It turns out that it was a moth trap. All the moths had flown towards the light in the box during the night and they were still there this morning. I liked a big pink and green one best. Someone said it was called an Elephant Hawk Moth. I’ll keep my eye out for those from now on.

Has anyone had a go at the activity sheets in the games and downloads section of the website? I've just made my own pond dipping net out of an old pair of tights!

I wonder what I'll find in the pond near my sett? Maybe dragons...

Hooray - spring has arrived at last!

I've been ticking off all the returning birds I've seen and recording the dates. So far I've seen swallows, sand martins and blackcaps, and I've heard chiffchaffs and willow warblers (my favourite). Their song is a bit like how I imagine a waterfall would sound if it could sing!

Has anyone heard a cuckoo yet? I love how they say their name. I might try it. Bad-ger! Bad-ger! Bad-ger!

Exciting news everyone!

Our friend Chris Packham is going to be on Blue Peter on Thursday 31 January and you can send in your questions for him about winter wildlife. Have a look on the homepage to find out how.

I'm going to ak him what his favourite UK animal is. I'm sure he'll say it's the badger...

Wow wow wow! Have you seen the cool new LEGO competition?

You have to build a UK minibeast out of LEGO and then send in a picture. The winner gets some awesome LEGO Monster Fighters sets. Have a look on the homepage to find out more.

I love LEGO and I love minibeasts, so I'm going to have a go. But what should I make? An earthworm? Maybe a beetle? So many choices!
