About: A strange fern. Grows in old grassland, hillsides, woodland rides and on sand dunes. Normally about 10cm all.
How to identify: Unmistakeable.
Where: Widespread.
Fantastic fact: There are two closely related ferns, the Small Adder's-tongue and the Least Adder's-tongue, both of which are much smaller and rare, only found at a few places around the south west of England.
