About: An early flowering plant (April to May), these shade loving plants are also known for their bright red berry stalks often left amongst hedgerows.
How to identify: Look for large, arrow-shaped leaves and leaf-like flower heads that curl around a long inner finger.
Where: Grows everywhere in the UK and Ireland but less dominant in the north of Scotland.
Fantastic fact: Also known as Cuckoo-pint.
