What are nature stars?

About: There are 14 species of lacewing in Britain. The most familiar species are lime green, with large, delicated veined clear wings. They are commonly found in garden. Adults and larvae are both predators, feeding on aphids.

How to identify: The common green lacewing is a familiar garden insect. The different species are very difficult to tell apart.

Fantastic fact: Once they have sucked all the juices out of an aphid, the larvae of some lacewing species use the dried out bodies as camouflage, sticking the skins to their own backs!
