What are nature stars?

About: A medium-sized orangey-yellow butterfly, with a wingspan of about 6cm. This is a migrant species which flys here from North Africa and southern Europe. Clouded Yellows are fairly rare in most years but occasionally turn up in enormous numbers. Adults may arrive at any time during the spring and summer, when they may be found in grassy places, particularly near the south coast.

How to identify: A bright yellow butterfly, with broad black edges to the upper surfaces of the wings.

Where: Can turn up anywhere, but most frequent in southern areas.
