About: A large, round, domed black beetle, about 2cm long with longish legs. Adults feed on lady's bedstraw and related plants. Found during the spring and summer in grassland and along hedgerows, where the food plant grows.
How to identify: A slow moving, very rounded black beetle with quite long legs.
Where: South and central England and Wales

Fantastic fact: The Bloody-nosed Beetle is named because, when disturbed, it oozes a red liquid from its face. This 'blood' tastes horrible, and scares away predators.
