How to identify: Much more colourful than the Collared Dove. They also sound different: Turtle Doves have a purring 'turrr turrr turr' song, compared to the familiar 'hoo hoooo-hoo' of the Collared Dove.
Where: Found throughout England and the lowlands of Wales. Declining.
Natural Superpowers
Fantastic fact: Turtle Doves are summer visitors, spending the winter in Africa. They must've been very lucky to find two Turtle Doves to go with the three French Hens and the Partridge in the Pear Tree at Christmas.
