What are nature stars?

About: A common little dabbling duck, particularly in the winter when they gather in large numbers on gravel pits, reservoirs and wet flood meadows.

How to identify: A small duck, the male is grey with a speckled breast and a lovely green head with orange eye patch.

Where: Nests in small numbers around the country, particularly in the uplands, but much more common in winter when it can be found on most wetlands.
