How to identify: The only other wader with red legs, the Redshank is smaller with shorter legs and a shorter bill with much more red on the base. When they fly, Spotted Redshank are dark, with a white 'cigar' shaped patch on the back.

Where: A scarce visitor on migration to shallow wetlands inland and around the coast.
