About: A small tit, about 11cm long. Coal Tits are birds of mainly conifer woodland although they will also turn up in parks and gardens where there are conifer trees. They nest in holes in trees: tits are especially happy to use nest boxes. Tits are active feed
How to identify: Told from the similar Marsh and Willow Tits by the white wing bars and white patch at the back of the head. Marsh and Willow Tits have plain wings and entirely back caps.
Where: Widespread
Natural Superpowers
Fantastic fact: In Ireland, Coal Tits have very pale yellow cheeks, not white.
