What are nature stars?

About: A very rare toad, and smaller than the Common Toad. Natterjacks breed in warm, shallow pools in sand dunes and on sandy heaths in just a handful of special places. They are mainly nocturnal. In the spring, the males all sing together at night, to attract females. Natterjacks are an endangered species, and protected under British law.

How to identify: Smaller than Common Toad, more olive-green in colour with a yellow stripe running down the back.

Where: A rare toad, only found at a handful of sites in south east England, north west England and neighbouring parts of Scotland.
